ISS was retained by a consortium of product manufacturers facing numerous lawsuits in state and federal court alleging neurological deficits from exposure to their product in various settings.  Because plaintiff experts were constantly citing new science (including findings presented at conferences, book chapters, as well as peer-reviewed published literature), it was critical for the defense team to maintain a detailed awareness of the science relating to their product as well as the science relating to the disease states alleged to be caused by their product.

ISS was tasked with developing a scientific monitoring service that would provide the Defense Group with a current understanding of all pertinent findings and opinions.  To meet this need, ISS developed a “newsletter” format science alert program that summarized all the relevant science and segregated it into meaningful medical/scientific categories (e.g. epidemiology, neurology, toxicology, general medicine). This custom litigation solution helped the defense group maintain a timely awareness of all relevant scientific information and effectively anticipate and rebut arguments made by the plaintiffs in deposition and trial.  In addition, because web links to the underlying scientific studies were included with each monitoring report, document retrieval and storage became a seamless process, and this served as a true, end-to-end solution.
